Jars

We had a jar each and had to create something that would relate to us or our Final Major Project.
This is my jar. I decided to crete somthing that would relate to my project. I dug up a piece of bamboo from my garden and washed to roots so there was no soil left on them. I then placed about a handful of glass beads in the jar and added rainwater with a bit of plant food in. I then placed the bamboo in the jar. I did this a week ago. I keep the rainwater topped up so that it is touching the roots at the bamboo is doing very well.

Slip Leaves

These are my slip leaves that are on my final board in my show. I painted layers of slip onto each leaf. I then waited untill the slip was leather hard and gently peeled the leaf off. I then waited untill it was completely dry and put it in the kiln. when it had been fired I used a green oxide to pick up on the texture of the leaf and then fired it again. For the big leaf I didnt take the leaf off, I just let it dry completelt and put it in the kiln. The leaf burnt away in the kiln. If I had tried to take the leaf off when the slip was leather hard then the slip would have broken as it is too big.
These have been very successful and I think they look amazing. I think they look very effective next to the Carte De Visites I made.

Resin Leaves

The idea for these were originally business cards but I decided to create Carte De Visites out of them as the business card didnt work out as well. I think these turned out really well and they look really nice. These are also in my show . They are on the same board that holds my Leaf Prints. My favourite one is the Rosa Rugosa as it has turned out the best. I like that the leaf has turned brown as it looks more like it has been preserved.

Lino Print

These are a series of Lino prints that I created from photographs  that I have taken of each species of Invasive plants. I used tissue paper to add the colour of the background. This makes them intreguing as the colours are inverted. The background colours are the colours of the plant/flower, as close as I could make it, and on the top is what the plant/flower looks like. These have also gone into the end of year show.

Leaf Print

I created these by putting the leaf into the enlarger in the dark room and printing straight on phototgraph paper. The blurred areas are where the leaf wasn't flat on the enlarger. These have turned out really well and I have put them into my end of year show. The leaves themselves were plants from my garden. I think that they are interesting as they show the detail of the leaves that you do not normally see and each leaf structure is very different which is quite suprising as to the naked eye they do not look that different from each other.
